Believe It Or Not: Justin Bieber Unveils Album Cover!

Pop star tweets standard and deluxe album covers for June 19 release, cryptically telling fans, 'expect the unexpected.'
By Katie Byrne

<P><P>Judging by the cover art for <a href="/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a>'s <i>Believe</i> album, the 18-year-old pop star is well aware of one of his best assets: his boyish good looks. The cover, which Bieber <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/justinbieber/status/196005439043928065" target="_blank">tweeted</a> on Friday evening (April 27), is simply a black-and-white close-up of his face with the word "BELIEVE" stamped in a yellow caution-tape font underneath. </P><P> </P><P>"Here is the #BELIEVEalbumCover standard version," he tweeted, <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/justinbieber/status/196006318425915392" target="_blank">followed</a> by a second tweet that included a sepia-toned version of the same image: "and this is the DELUXE #BELIEVEalbumCover - #52DAYS - excited? expect the unexpected." </P><P> </P><P><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:754722/cp~vid%3D754722%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A754722" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed> </P><P> </P><P>After posting the <i>Believe</i> album cover on Friday, Bieber <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/julieannxoxo/status/196007330838626305" target="_blank">retweeted</a> one fan's over-the-top reaction to the artwork: "That awkward moment when I almost ran over a lady and hit the car in front of me cuz I saw the #BELIEVEAlbumCover lololol," @julieannxoxo wrote. </P><P> </P><P><a href="/news/articles/1683335/justin-bieber-believe-the-voice.jhtml">Bieber just revealed the June 19 <i>Believe</i> release date</a> last week on "The Voice," also bringing along a teaser from his yet-unreleased "Boyfriend" video. Even after revealing that sneak peek, <a href="/news/articles/1683642/justin-bieber-boyfriend-music-video-kiss.jhtml">Bieber was spotted shooting new scenes</a> for the highly anticipated video, kissing a mystery brunette (hey, that's not Selena!) on set. </P><P> </P><P>"The concept of this video, I mean, it's not like a steady concept," <a href="/news/articles/1682156/justin-bieber-explains-boyfriend-video.jhtml">Bieber told MTV News</a> while shooting the video back in March. "It's not like 'Justin follows this girl to this spot.' No, it's a bunch of amazing scenes: like a fire scene, we have an ice scene. </P><P> </P><P>"It's kind of like bouncing back and forth," he said. "And then there's scenes of me and just a bunch of girl dancers, and just some great shots, great artistic shots, great shots of me smiling. Mel Gibson Jokes About Latest Rant With Jay Leno: I've Got a Bit of a Temper ...

Mel Gibson appeared on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno last night and surprisingly, he willingly brought up his most recent secretly recorded meltdown.

He joked about it repeatedly, no less.

The now-infamous Mel Gibson rant, in which he RAGED at Joe Eszterhas (and was taped in his own home, unwittingly, by Eszterhas' son), was over the top, he conceded. Still, Mel believes his privacy was violated and his actions were "justified." Why?

Mel Gibson on The Tonight Show

Eszterhas' script for The Maccabees was non-existent, then awful, Mel said, proceeding to slam the screenwriter for selling him out hardcore in a nine-page letter released online - before he leaked the audiotape.

"If he put half as much time and effort and creativity and imagination into a screenplay, which he was supposed to write, as he did into that letter, we wouldn't be having this conversation," Gibson said of Joe Eszterhas.

As for the rant itself, Leno asked, "So what were you doing, just swearing at the guy?"

"Yeah, pretty much," Mel deadpanned, before adding self-deprecatingly, "Maybe you don't know this about me, but I've got a little bit of a temper."

Lane Garrison Charged With Domestic Violence

Actor Lane Garrison has been charged with misdemeanor domestic violence following his alleged attack on ex-girlfriend Ashley Mattingly last week.

While it appeared Lane would be cleared as recently as mid-week, the L.A. County District Attorney filed the charges against him late Thursday.

Based on surveillance video which appears to show Lane slapping Ashley Mattingly in the face last Saturday, the D.A. felt he had a case to make.

Garrison insists he did not hit his ex, and says the tape helps his case.

Lane's lawyer says he was merely reaching for his phone at her Beverly Hills apartment and it was not a slap, but evidently the D.A. begs to differ.

Garrison is being held without bail because he's on a parole hold. He was convicted of vehicular DUI manslaughter back in 2007 and went to prison.

If convicted of domestic violence, he faces up to a year in jail, which is very unlikely, however, he could do even more time if his parole is violated.

That prospect is much more likely. Stay tuned.

Chrome OS and Google Drive to get intimate in version 20

Chrome OS and Google Drive to get intimate in version 20

When Google finally announced its shiny new cloud-based Drive service, many people will have been glad to see an extra bit of storage tacked onto their daily gadget lives. Some, however, spin out a generally more nebular existence, and that'd be the Chrome OS faithful. If you find yourself amongst their number, you'll be pleased to know that Sundar Pichai, SVP for Chrome, revealed in an interview with Wired that the next iteration of its slight operating system will come with Drive tightly sewn into the fabric. The idea is that the service will operate as the local file system, and all the core OS functionality will use Drive for storing data. Third party apps like VMware are already baking in Drive functionality, and expect more to follow when it lands in version 20.

Chrome OS and Google Drive to get intimate in version 20 originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 26 Apr 2012 11:10:00 EDT. Please see our terms for use of feeds.
