Dig Weekend Guide ? April 6-8 | Dig Lounge

Welcome to the weekend. It?s Easter Weekend, so things are a little slow on the things to do front. There?s the weekly food truck Friday in NoHo, you can bet on the ponies at Santa Anita Derby, drink suds at the LA Beer Festival, drink wine with Rex Pickett (author of Sideways), and put on your best fantasy garb and head for the Renaissance Pleasure Faire.

NoHo Dine Out
North Hollywood (5-8pm)
The NoHo Dine Out Fridays features live music every Friday including a half a dozen food trucks, local arts and craft vendors, dog adoptions and more! For directions and a current list of featured vendors check out there web site.

Saturday, April 7

The Santa Anita Derby
Arcadia (12pm)
It?s the 75th running of the Santa Anita Derby! The $750,000 Santa Anita Derby is the last major and most important stakes for 3-year-olds heading to the Kentucky Derby from California. See this year?s up and coming stars before they move on to Kentucky and the Triple Crown Trail. All fans in attendance will receive a Derby Day T-Shirt! Admission prices start at just $5.

LA Beer Festival
Los Angeles (12-3pm & 5-8pm)
The LA Beer Festival returns for another day filled with beer, food, and music. Tee event will feature dozens of international and domestic beers, LA?s most popular food trucks, and two great bands. There are two different event times, a day time and night time session. Tickets are $40 and can be had here.

Rex Pickett Sideways Tasting
Downtown LA (7-9pm)
Join Rex Pickett, the humorous and witty Author of ?Sideways? and ?VERTICAL? for a sit down tasting and laugh out loud discussion about life after Sideways, how Vertical came about, and what is next! Host Ian Blackburn will pour and educate on a great list of brands during the discussion, including Sea Smoke and other wines featured in the movie. Renaissance Pleasure Faire
Irwindale (10am-7pm, Sat & Sun)
The 50th anniversary of the very first Renaissance faire is upon us, with the Southern California Renaissance Pleasure Faire celebrating its Golden Jubilee through the weekends of April and May. Grab a turkey leg and see such faire favorites as the Poxy Boggards, the Dread Crew of Oddwood, Moonie and Broon, the joust, the puritans, and of course Her Royal Majesty, Queen Elizabeth I in the village of Port Deptford, abutting the Santa Fe Dam. The Silver Lake Farmers? Market offers more than just fresh, local produce. Customers can also find vintage clothings, jewelry, music, and snacks, giving it more of a flea market vibe.

Wine Pairing Wednesday at Upstairs2
West LA (7:30 p.m.)
Upstairs 2, located above the massive Wine House, offers a four-course dinner prepared by chef Todd Barrie every Wednesday, paired with four wines from around the world selected by sommelier Marilyn Snee. April 28 ? The 10th Annual Grilled Cheese Inventational will take place on April 28 at a location yet to be determined. One thing is for sure, if you love cheese and grilled slices of bread, this event is for you. The Grilled Cheese Invitational (GCI) is the largest, craziest, and most exciting Grilled Cheese cooking contest in the country and is the best thing to happen to sliced cheese since sliced bread!
