A new Chile Fest in Los Lunas with entertainment and family fun!

It?s harvest season so there will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy harvest celebrations, starting with this one. The new Viva New Mexico Chile Festival takes place at the Wagner Farm in Los Lunas on Saturday and Sunday September 8 and 9, 2012.

It looks like there?s plenty of family fun and activities, live entertainment, fresh produce for sale (including
pick-your-own), a beer garden, arts and crafts vendors, and (of course) they?ll be roasting chiles. Admission is $7 for adults (aged 12+), $5 for children aged 3 to 11, and it?s free for kids aged 2 and under.

The weekend?s activities are of a decidely pastoral nature, as you?d expect if you?re taking a day out to the farm! Events include:

  • A corn maze, petting zoo, pony rides and hayrides.
  • Chainsaw carving demonstration by Mark Chavez
  • Cow milking demonstration
  • A chile cook-off
  • Meet chile pepper guru and author Dave DeWitt
  • Entertainment by performers including El Gringo, Tobias Rene, Darin Goldston and the Memphis P. Tails, Squash Blossom Boys, the Todd Tijerina Band, and more.

See the?full Viva New Mexico Chile Festival schedule of events and entertainment. If you want to take the New Mexico Rail Runner to Los Lunas, they?re running a shuttle service between the station?and the event venue:?Wagner?s Farmland Experience at 1420 Desert Willow Road.

Los Lunas is about 24 miles south of Downtown Albuquerque, taking exit 203 from I-25 South.? To reach Wagner Farm, go west on Main Street for half a mile to Desert Willow Road, turn right and follow north to the farm.
